Retiring Legacy ETL with AWS Glue for a Leading Health Plan
A leading U.S. health system and health plan engaged Frontais to retire Informatica PowerCenter, moving ETL to AWS Glue and HEDIS workloads to Databricks.
Legacy ETL that slowed every new data initiative.
Critical payer workloads ran on Informatica PowerCenter, driving license costs, operational overhead and slow delivery. HEDIS quality reporting added a hard deadline, with key ETLs needing to move to Databricks by the end of 2026, while enterprise platform decisions were still open.
Serverless, cloud-native ETL with room to evolve.
We are re-engineering PowerCenter workflows as serverless AWS Glue jobs that read from and write to the existing ODL databases. For HEDIS, a hybrid Glue and Databricks design lands priority workloads on Databricks now, with deployments automated through Azure DevOps.
A phased plan, from pilot to scaled migration.
The program moves from initiation and migration standards, to a pilot on low and medium complexity workflows, to parallel migration over three to nine months. Monitoring, governance and progressive decommissioning are built in, with clear ownership of development, QA and deployment.
04 ACCELERATED ROI
Lower cost, faster delivery, and an AI-ready foundation.
The outcomes this program is built to deliver, measured from day one.
COST
Lower infrastructure and licensing costs as PowerCenter workloads are retired.
SPEED
Faster ETL runtimes and shorter time-to-market for new data initiatives.
COMPLIANCE
Priority HEDIS ETLs on track to move to Databricks by the end of 2026.
FLEXIBILITY
A cloud-native foundation that keeps Databricks, AI and ML options open.
